The Right of Access to Information
The basic tool of environmental reporting is the request for documents and information from public institutions.
The Relationship with Expropriation Announcements
One of the traces of environmental and infrastructure projects in reporting is expropriation announcements. Official Announcements and Advertisements Regulation Art. 77/1-ç lists the announcements to be published within the scope of the fourth paragraph of Article 10 of the Expropriation Law No. 2942 among the official announcements to be published on internet news sites in the General Category. We covered the detail in which announcements are published in the General Category.
The Intersection with Investigative Journalism
Environmental reporting often merges with the field of exclusive news and investigative journalism. Exclusive news is separately listed among the 17 fields. We covered the detail in exclusive reporting and investigative journalism.
Source Protection
Protecting whistleblowing sources is of critical importance in environmental reporting. We covered the limits of Art. 12 of Law No. 5187 in the limits of source protection.
Accuracy and Liability
Its Relationship with the Reporter Title
The 17 fields are listed for the managerial titles. The title of reporter, by contrast, appears in every list in a separate sub-paragraph without a field condition (Art. 19/1-h and its equivalents). In practice the name of the field defines the reporter’s specialisation.
We covered the detail in who is a reporter: duties, rights and the press card and in the news manager: duties and the press card title.
