Scope
Art. 2 keeps the scope wide: it covers the deposit of works produced by every kind of printing, ozalid, duplicating, offset, optical, magnetic, electronic and other reproduction method.

What Is Deposited?
Art. 4 lists works reproduced inside the country. Those that matter for the press:
- Books and books in raised type
- Newspapers
- Magazines and other periodicals
- Graphic works such as posters, postcards and engravings
- Slides, films, cassettes
- Electronic publications on optical and magnetic media
- Maps and plans
- Works printed abroad but sold and distributed inside the country
Art. 5 covers two groups reproduced outside the country: works prepared by foreign researchers using libraries in Turkey or published abroad, and works printed abroad by persons liable for legal deposit inside the country.
Who Is Liable?
Art. 3 defines the person liable for legal deposit: the natural or legal person obliged to give the deposit copies to the legal deposit directorate or to the legal deposit units. We cover this in the liability guide.
How Many Copies, and Where?
Art. 8 sets the number of copies by type of work, and contains a special rule for newspapers:

When?
Under Art. 9 the copies are submitted complete and free of defect within fifteen days following the reproduction. For the works in Art. 4(g) and in Art. 5 the period is sixty days. Defective or incomplete copies are replaced within fifteen days at the latest.
The Cost Is Tax Deductible
Art. 12 brings a relief: the cost price of works given as deposit copies is taken into account as an expense in determining profit. We cover this in the tax deduction guide.
The Sanction
Under Art. 10 an administrative fine is applied for each copy, by the highest civil administrator of the place where the deposit is made, to persons who fail to perform their obligations. We cover this in the penalty guide.
