For internet news sites the waiting period is not a single figure: the rule is 24 months and the accelerated route is 6 months - and the fast route has a price.
The Rule: 24 Months - Art. 54/1
The waiting period for internet news sites to be able to publish official announcements is 24 months.
The Accelerated Route: 6 Months - Art. 54/2
(Amended: Official Gazette 6/3/2024-32481) - A waiting period of 6 months is applied to internet news sites that, from the date of application, fulfil twice the minimum staff and daily minimum content numbers determined for the Category 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in which they are included, together with the daily minimum unique visitor, (Added phrase: Official Gazette 10/12/2025-33103) direct unique visitor and page view numbers.

The 18-Month Continuation Obligation - Art. 54/3
(Amended: Official Gazette 6/3/2024-32481) - Internet news sites acquiring the right to publish official announcements within the scope of the second paragraph must, after acquiring the publishing right, continue to fulfil for at least a further 18 months the conditions determined in that paragraph for the category in which they are included.
Places Where There Is No Qualifying Publication - Art. 54/4
(Added: Official Gazette 6/3/2024-32481) - In quota places where, as at the date of application, there is no internet news site holding the right to publish official announcements or for which the Agency has determined a waiting period start date, the waiting period is applied as 6 months.

A Concession on Additional Indicators - Art. 65/3
(Added: Official Gazette 6/3/2024-32481) (Amended: Official Gazette 10/12/2025-33103) - For internet news sites completing the waiting period under the second paragraph of Article 54, the additional indicator conditions other than subparagraph (c) of the first paragraph are not required.
The Obligations During the Waiting Period

Summary
For internet news sites the waiting period is as a rule 24 months. For those fulfilling twice the minimum staff, daily minimum content, daily minimum unique visitor, direct unique visitor and page view numbers determined for their category, 6 months is applied; but those sites must maintain the same conditions for at least a further 18 months after acquiring the right. In addition, in quota places where there is no qualifying site or site with a started waiting period, the waiting period is directly 6 months.
