In newsrooms the intelligence and news sections are combined in some publications and separate in others. The legislation recognises both structures.

The Other Appearance of the Title “Chief” — Art. 19/1-g
There is another chief in the same provision: on condition of working in one of the 17 news fields, “the news manager or editor or sub-editor or chief”.

The Counterpart at Anadolu Agency and TRT
There is no “section chief” title in the Anadolu Agency (Art. 23) or TRT (Art. 25) lists. In those organisations the corresponding titles are manager, deputy manager, coordinator and director.
The Effect on the Quota
Chief titles are also within the quota determined according to the type and size of the publication. For example, in local daily political newspapers whose total page surface area is in the 0.40–0.59 m² range, a press card is given to the owner or the representative of the legal person and to only one employee (Art. 19/2-ç).

Conclusion
The legislation recognises intelligence and news section chiefship both as a combined and as a separate structure; but in fortnightly and less frequent publications only the combined form is listed. That chiefship differs from the chiefship of one of the 17 news fields (Art. 19/1-g): no field condition is required for section chiefship.
