The calculation has two layers, and the second has no equivalent in Law 4857. Under Additional Article 1 of Law No. 5953 overtime is paid at 50% above the normal hourly rate; but overtime hours falling after 00:00 are paid at double.

"Double" in the second row means the hourly rate itself plus the same again — that is, twice the rate.
A Worked Example
Assume a reporter on an hourly rate of TRY 200 works four hours of overtime between 22:00 and 02:00. Since overtime may not exceed three hours a day, take the calculation over three hours — 22:00 to 01:00:

The same three hours worked entirely in daytime would have cost TRY 900. The difference arises solely because one hour fell after midnight.

When Is It Paid?
The article requires overtime pay to be made together with the following wage payment. It is paid with the next salary run; it cannot be accumulated and left to the year end.
Piece-Rate Staff Are Covered Too
Where a journalist whose pay is set per piece or by volume of work is required to work overtime, payment is again made on the basis of this article. Working on a fee basis does not remove the right to overtime.
If It Is Not Paid
The sanction is heavy: under Additional Article 3 an administrative fine of five times the unpaid or underpaid amount applies. This is covered in the overtime penalty article.
