Reading time and speaking time estimates are based on general averages of ~200 words/min and ~130 words/min respectively. Actual speed varies significantly from person to person and depending on content complexity: text packed with technical terms or unfamiliar to the reader/listener is read or spoken much more slowly than casual text. Treat the results as a rough guide rather than an exact duration.
Average word length and average sentence length are simple structural indicators of the text — not a scoring system. That said, a very high average sentence length can be a sign of dense, hard-to-follow sentences and is worth a second look.
This tool is handy for everyday writing tasks: checking a blog post or video script's length before publishing, verifying a social media caption or SMS fits within a character limit, or roughly estimating how long a presentation script will take to deliver on stage.
