What does this header do?

To recognize a theme, WordPress scans every folder under wp-content/themes/ and looks for this comment block at the very top of its style.css file. If the block is missing, or the Theme Name field is empty, WordPress won't treat the folder as a valid theme and won't list it on the Appearance > Themes screen — the rest of the CSS doesn't matter, only this header is parsed.

The Requires at least and Requires PHP fields let WordPress automatically check compatibility with the running install: if the site doesn't meet these requirements, WordPress flags the theme as incompatible in the listing and blocks activation, so it doesn't leave a site owner with a broken site.

If you're building a child theme, this header also needs a Template: line pointing to the parent theme's folder name (e.g. Template: twentytwentyfour) — that's how WordPress knows which theme to inherit from. This tool doesn't have a dedicated child-theme field, but you can add the Template: line to the generated block by hand.

Text Domain must match exactly the value you pass to load_theme_textdomain() and to every __() / _e() translation call in your theme; if it doesn't match, WordPress can't locate the right .mo translation file and the interface always falls back to the original (usually English) strings.

When should you use WordPress Theme style.css Header Generator?

The KEYDAL WordPress Theme style.css Header Generator tool is a browser-based utility that developers, system administrators, SEO specialists and enterprise technology teams use in their daily operations. It requires no installation, is free, and produces results instantly. It is designed so local teams can run audits without connecting to server environments and run analyses without touching production.

Typical scenarios include: post-migration verification, comparing domain or hosting providers, diagnosing customer issues, security auditing (pre-pentest reconnaissance), root-cause analysis of email deliverability problems, validating CDN or proxy configuration, surfacing technical audit data for SEO teams, and rapid information gathering during incident response. You can copy results as text and share them or paste them into internal documentation.

Beyond these tools, we deliver server setup and operations support across Hetzner, OVHcloud, Contabo, DigitalOcean and Turkish providers.
