Meta Tag Analyzer
Analyze a page's title, description, Open Graph, Twitter Card, canonical and robots meta tags. Fetches the page and summarizes title, description, canonical, Open Graph, Twitter Card, Schema.org JSON-LD and hreflang tags in a single report.
Why Meta Tags Matter
Title and meta description are the first two lines users see in Google search results (SERP). A well-written title can double CTR (click-through rate); when it's missing or poor, Google picks random text and your ranking drops. The canonical tag tells browsers and search engines which URL is the primary version when identical content lives at multiple URLs — preventing duplicate-content penalties.
Open Graph and Twitter Card tags control how your page renders when shared on social media: the title, description and preview image. Schema.org JSON-LD powers rich results in search — star ratings, FAQs, breadcrumbs. For a full audit and optimization of these tags, see our SEO service.
About meta tag optimization
Google recommends 50-60 characters for the title and 120-160 characters for the description. Longer text gets truncated with "..." on mobile, and if it's too short Google generates its own snippet. Put the target keyword in the first 60 characters when you can.
Canonical tells Google which URL is the "primary" version when multiple URLs host identical or near-identical content. For example, ?utm_source=... variants, http/https pairs or www/non-www can all be collapsed into a single URL through canonical. This prevents ranking signals from being split.
Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and Discord all build their link previews from og:image. With no image the preview degrades to plain text and click-through can drop by up to 40%. Recommended size is 1200×630 pixels, under 1 MB, JPG or PNG.
Schema.org JSON-LD describes your page structurally to search engines: "this is a product", "this is an article", "this is a recipe". In return Google renders rich results — star ratings, price, FAQ accordions, breadcrumbs. That visibility in SERP can dramatically boost CTR.
